The great plains
The Great Plains are a large expanse of plains suspending across South Dakota, North Dakota, Kansas, and Nebraska. It is also located in Montana, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado, but those states are in the west region. Most of the plains are covered in prairie and are home to many animals such as bison, grassland birds, and prairie dogs. The plains themselves cover about 501,900 square miles.
